a poet’s notebook

Snapshot 05/05/05

child shoveling rain puddles with dust pan

Because I do not write, ink dries
in the pen. The moon hides its face
in rain. Tulips fade. Dreams scatter
into frailty, they putter along on canes.

Cupboards empty and shopping
leaves me exhausted on the chaise.
The dogs complain. A neighbor
clears the rain gutters. A small child

shovels puddles with a dust pan. One
friend wonders where I am; another
hunts temple windows at an auction
in Bangkok. The tulips’ petals drop.

  1. Beautiful poems, sorts has a bittersweet ring to it.
I was looking at the title of entry and a poem came to me. Type it up and it’s now posted at my site. Enjoy!!!

  2. great picture and I do feel a sadness when I read your poem. It is very good.

  3. The poem is lovely & blue.
The “snapshot” is much more than that(a snapshot). It’s wonderful – the color jumps out at you. The subject is amusing, and yet so serious about the chore at hand.
Thanks! I’ve missed visiting. I need to find some time to catch up…

  4. Wow, do I know this feeling at present..!

  5. lovely …
