About This Site

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in April 1995, and later with CFIDS. I have tried various treatments and psychological/ spiritual approaches: denial (my favorite); resistance; acceptance (I’m not very skilled at this one) — now I try just to abide.

Abide is a place to gather links to a variety of resources, information, and support for people with these ‘syndromes’ and their friends and families.

I also include links to personal sites and blogs that either deal with, or are written by folks who struggle with, these or other chronic illnesses. That several of these speak of many things, and only occasionally of illness, reminds me that even a life limited by ill-health can be a full one.

I do not expect to post here often; when I do, it is more likely to be links to pertinent news items or events than any personal meditations (go to Watermark for that.)

  1. Hi! I don’t usually take part in web sites, but since FMS my world has gotten smaller and smaller. I am a wife, a mother of 2 (one in HS & the other is in college),and I use to be an OB nurse. I also use to garden, swim, and walk 2 miles 3 days a week. Now, for the past two years I am lucky if I can wake up before 10 am and dress. I do try to swim 3 days a week- but that is all that I can muster to do for now. No shopping, walking or even going to church for my body rebels! But I refuse to give up hope–someday I will beat this!!
