Poem-A-Day #16: Elegy

   nap

eye mask

migraine aura

pale bursts

on a black field

somewhere

a woodpecker drills

a crow barks

1-2-3 1-2-3 1-2-3

the sound machine

pushes waves

into my ears

cat purr against

my shoulder, train

rumble & whistle

more felt than heard

who-do-you-love

who-do-you-love

it’s gone now
