The "journaling" reads:

When Kate, of Alpine Canine, first met Henry, she was sure he could handle the big-dog hike. She had to carry him out. Actually, she had to carry him to the bus; he didn’t want to go with this stranger.

Now, every Tuesday & Thursday morning, Henry makes sure I’m up in time to watch him stare at the front door in anticipation. He runs to the bus. He goes on the “Senior” hike. He is, after all, “senior”. This keeps him a young & happy senior.
