Snapshot Poem 15 July 02009

pond

my past came to visit today
we sat together in the garden
both thicker, older, milder

each carries memory of the other
each carries memory for the other

we stretched out our legs
rested our shoulders back
watched the koi drift in the pond

& pulled in our nets of memory
each, for the other

  1. Sharon, I like how the change of preposition works in the 2nd para. Feel like I just discovered your blog.

  2. Soothing look at then and now, memories revisited. Nice read.

  3. how thought provoking…

  4. Nice to see you here, Joe.

  5. Nice catch!

  6. Always good to catch up.

  7. There is such a gentleness to this poem. Makes me not regret getting older.

  8. perfectly reflects my experience with an old friend this summer…

  9. Gentleness, yes. I hadn’t been conscious of that.
Time really does mellow, ease the long anguish.

  10. sitting in the garden with the past….nice

  11. both thicker, older, milder
    This alone spoke volumes.

  12. Ady’s poems you know? Famous Hungarian symbolist poet. Personally, I prefer Radnóti poems. Some can be downloaded free of charge (www.konyv-konyvek.hu) is one of the bookstore. Look for the “Ingyenesen letölthető könyvek” from the menu.
