Getting Dressed

I am blogging in my pajamas. I've been in pajamas since 2:00 this afternoon.

What does this have to do with the purported topic of this blog?

Well, fifteen years ago, when I was first diagnosed with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, I made a commitment to myself: get dressed every day. I might not brush my hair; I might not even brush my teeth; I might just go from my bedroom to the daybed in the sunroom; but I would get dressed.

Aside from a couple of times that I had the flu, I've kept that commitment.

The last few days, fatigue has been heavier than usual. I slept some of yesterday, and again today, and when I got up today I thought, why not just stay in pj's? It was already 5:00 pm, and it's not illegal or anything.

So, after a year of silence in this place, and after fifteen years of keeping to a standard — here I am, blogging, in my pajamas.

Welcome back. Whether in your pyjamas or not; needs must as needs be. It’s nice to see you blogging here again :).

Elle & emailers — Thank you. I’m actually amazed that anyone still follows this blog.
A little reinforcement to get me back to the page…

I have your blog in my reader. Good to see you writing again. I am also one of long hiatuses (hiati?)
I am also one to not get dressed in the morning. My trick is to wear my clothes to bed! (albeit track bottoms and t-shirts). If this is the first time in 15 years that you have done it then give yourself some big gentle pats on the back because-dang- that is a major accomplishment!

It’s great that you actually make an effort to get dressed even if you don’t feel like it. I know how it is being in constant pain. I suffer from chronic pain in the knees, and in my bad days, I just don’t want to move at all. I just take my daily Soma dose and lay in bed.
I guess dressing up kinda perks you up a bit. Maybe I should find something that has that same effect on me. 🙂
    Thank you for sharing.

Being one who suffers from chronic pain, I know how it can be pretty taxing to get up and dress up. Imagine doing that without having somewhere to go to? 🙂 Right now, I’m taking Soma for the pain, and undergoing therapy to make the pain manageable. How do you manage your fibromyalgia?

This is my first visit to your blog and as it’s almost 10 PM where I live I’m in pajamaas too. I also have fibromylagia and chronic fatigue and yada, yada, yada. I have lived with chronic pain fro 20 years and learned how to cope as best as I can.I eat only whole foods and no prepared foods or junk food at all. I’m into alternative medicine and complementary medicine modalities, yoga and meditation. The only drug I take now is Elavil. I just started taking it a month ago. My heart reaches out to you across these cyber miles and wishes you better days and happier times.
