Linkage & Designage — Opinions Solicited

When I start redesigning my blog, we can assume I’m back for awhile.

So what do you think? I think it’s rather imposing. Perhaps too much so?

But — the three column layout should load faster. Some things are gone; some
have been added. I’m hoping it will all make sense, and be easy to navigate —
please come in from your reader and share your opinions & advice.

And, a couple of completely unrelated — or perhaps bizarrely related in some
subliminal way — links for your amusement:

SixWordSciFi.com,
found via Greg Cohn’s Weblog (Greg is a NewWester); and

[pop-up warning!]
Less-than-purr-fect, from Cindy. She’s an excellent link-finder; too bad she won’t blog.

Stay cool.

Looking pretty good — cutting down the number of images would help loading time, but it seems a little faster than it used to…
And thanks for the SixWordSciFi link — very cool concept (your link should be http://www.sixwordscifi.com/&sid=4100267604/ –slash after “.com” added)
    Glad you’re back…

I have lurked hereabouts for a long, long time but have never commented.
I have always loved your blogs for the design, the information and creativity.
I have just nominated you for a bloggers award. Come over and pick it up.
    Love Cusp

I like the 2-column better! I come to read you, and this layout seems to cede too much space to the sidebar items.

I like it! Clean, easy to understand visually, and I like the expand/collapse feature on your blogrolls.
Thanks for the link to SWSF – you can read the background on it here.
Btw, you don’t need the “sid=” stub on the url in the post.

Ah this does load faster on my my dial-up end. So it’s looking good.

I like double sidebars. Not sure you have the right header for it yet, but the layout is good. the only thing I don’t understand is the purpose of the calendar, especially there at the top. Does anyone ever use them? I don’t.

I am really out of practice!
Fixed the links — thanks for the heads-up. Took off a few more things. Moved more of posts under the cut. Took off the calendar (you’re right, Dave — I rarely use them, either — and there’s search and archives, right there.)
Joe — I actually woke up thinking of you this morning! Gosh, I wonder if Joe will even know I’m back…?
I tried ‘stretching’ the old banner, but the quality isn’t hight enough — so I just put a background behind it & left it for later. Banner suggestions are welcome.
And Cusp — welcome to you, too! Feels a bit weird to get a blogging award after months of hardly doing it — but count on it, I’ll get over there.
Yay! I’m back, & I still have readers!
