Montana Bloggers

Bigskyblog

Several Montana Bloggers were featured today in the Bozeman Daily ChronicleBetter Living Through Blogging, mtpolitics.net, A Chicken Is Not Pillage, and Left in the West, as well as Ed Kemmick’s City Lights at the Billings Gazette — all of whom well deserve the notice.

One oddity of the online version of the Chronicle article is that it does not include links to the blogs it covers; a sign that they don’t quite grasp the concept just yet. The Gazette has a list of Montana Bloggers online.  As far as I know, the Missoulian hasn’t noticed us, nor has the Missoula Independent.

Another oddity — or rather, what should be but is not an oddity — pointed out by Patia Stephens,
is that all of the featured bloggers are men.  I am embarrassed to
admit that I did not notice this; is my feminist acuity fading along
with everything else?

Still, I am pleased to see the local MSM (Main Stream Media — hah! see, I know the jargon) take note of us; perhaps more will follow.

Well I didn’t like it. I don’t know this is a warranted argument or not but Montana’s MSM seems to think some things are just amazing, the amount of numbers someone gets daily.
Well I get ten times that(as you know, lol)! Then the fact that not only were they all men, they all seemed to be in certain parts of the state: Missoula, Great Falls, Bozeman . Last time I checked – Montana bloggers are more spread out than that.
I know Craig had that one story about that housewife from Montana who was speaking to that one Guardsman at Ft. Lewis – but that’s the biggest news from Montana bloggers.
I – for one – think it’s overrated. Perhaps I don’t need attention for what I do but sometimes I think I need I do, because other people are getting it.
    shrugs
I also note how some of them, are doing it for themselves yet they jump at the fact they are going to be interviewed. If it was for themselves, they wouldn’t need a newspaper mention.
I’m going to egged by a few of them. I can only tell.

Jen, perhaps your concerns will influence the next reporter. It is pretty remarkable, your success, and deserving of notice.
