  2. These are some kind of species tulip — possibly T. turkestanica. They are in my neighbor’s garden – mine is too shaded for such early gems. I love how they look through the winter grass.

  4. I’m insane with jealousy … so few flowers here. Dirty banks of three-month-old snow, the colour of wet kitty litter. And one disgruntled robin that’s been sitting in my cherry for three weeks. (I think he may be dead.)
    Those are alpine dwarf crocuses, I think. Certainly crocuses.
